Jamie Butterworth Ltd is the controller of the personal information described here. In this notice, "we", "us" and "our" mean Jamie Butterworth Ltd.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry. Your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and whatever you tell us in your message, such as details and photos of your garden or a project.
When you buy something. Your name, email address, billing and delivery addresses, phone number, what you ordered, and the answers you give at checkout, such as notes about your garden for an online consultation or the wording of a book dedication.
When you pay. Payments are taken by our payment providers through Squarespace Commerce. We never see or store your full card details.
When you visit the site. Squarespace, which hosts this website, records basic information about visits, such as pages viewed, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location based on your IP address. Some of this uses cookies, explained below.
Why we use it
To reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to plan and carry out the work. This is in our legitimate interests in running the business, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
To process and deliver your order, including sending your consultation link or posting your book. This is needed to perform our contract with you.
To keep business and tax records, which the law requires.
To understand how the site is used so we can improve it, using non-essential cookies only where you have agreed to them.
We do not sell your information, and we will only send you marketing emails if you have asked to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with
Squarespace, which hosts the website, its forms and the shop.
Payment providers, such as Squarespace Payments, Stripe or PayPal depending on how you pay, which process card and wallet payments.
Royal Mail or another courier, to deliver physical orders.
Form Plants Ltd, when plants are supplied for your scheme, and only the details needed to quote for and deliver them.
The Soho Agency, Jamie's agent, when your enquiry is about television, publishing, talks or brand work.
Our accountants and professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.
Some of these providers, including Squarespace, are based in or store data in the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or approved contract clauses.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to two years and then deleted. Records of orders, payments and client work are kept for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, because tax law requires it.

Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you or another organisation. You can object to us using it for our legitimate interests or for marketing, and withdraw any consent you have given. We will respond within one month.
