Terms of Sale
Last updated 6th October 2026
These terms apply when you buy something through the shop on this website: an online consultation or a signed copy of What Grows Together. Please read them before you order. Garden visits, planting plans and bespoke projects are agreed separately, with a written proposal and their own terms.
1. Who we are
The shop is run by Jamie Butterworth Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15363507). Our registered office is Form Plants, Rodwell Farm, Row Town, KT15 1HH. You can reach us through the contact form. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Jamie Butterworth Ltd, and "you" means the person placing the order.
2. Placing an order
When you pay at checkout you will receive an email confirming your order. That confirmation is when our contract with you begins. If we cannot fulfil an order, for example if a book is out of stock, we will tell you and refund you in full.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and are the total you pay for the item. Any delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is taken in full when you order.
4. Online consultations
An online consultation is a 60 minute video call with Jamie about your garden, followed by written notes and plant suggestions.
After you book, we will contact you within two working days to arrange a date and time, and to ask for photos and a short questionnaire about your garden.
Please send photos and the questionnaire at least three working days before the call, so Jamie can prepare.
Written notes are usually sent within ten working days of the call.
Advice is given in good faith, based on the information and photos you provide. Jamie does not see the garden in person during an online consultation, so recommendations are general guidance on planting, not a survey of the site, its structures or its soil.
5. Changing or cancelling a consultation
You have the legal right to cancel within 14 days of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the consultation has not yet taken place.
If you ask for your consultation to take place within those 14 days, you agree that you will lose the right to cancel once it has happened.
After the 14 days, you can move your consultation to another date free of charge, once, as long as you give us at least 48 hours' notice. If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, or do not join the call, the fee is not refundable.
If Jamie needs to rearrange, for example because of filming, we will offer you a new date or a full refund, whichever you prefer.
6. Signed books and delivery
Signed copies are posted to UK addresses by Royal Mail. Delivery options and costs are shown at checkout.
Books are signed by hand, so please allow up to ten working days for dispatch. We will email you when your order is on its way.
If you would like a dedication, add the wording at checkout and check the spelling carefully. We will write it exactly as you give it.
7. Returns
For a signed copy without a dedication, you can cancel within 14 days of receiving it. Tell us through the contact form, then return the book unused within a further 14 days. We will refund the price and the standard delivery cost within 14 days of receiving it back. You pay the cost of returning it.
A copy with a personal dedication is made to your instructions, so it cannot be returned unless it is faulty or the dedication does not match what you asked for.
8. If something is wrong
If your book arrives damaged or the dedication is not what you asked for, contact us within 30 days and we will replace it or refund you. This does not affect your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
9. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
10. Your information
We use the details you give us to fulfil your order, as explained in our privacy notice.
11. Complaints and the law
If you are unhappy with anything, please contact us first and we will do our best to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
